Bamba Wassoulou Groove

Bamba Wassoulou Groove is bewitching blues, with dizzying rock pulses serving a whirling and hypnotic music.
Bamba Wassoulou Groove, founded in Bamako in 2013, is an initiative of Bamba Dembélé, the latter was the percussionist and co-founder of the Super Djata Band, the legendary group around guitarist Zani Diabaté.
While in other parts of Mali the musical tradition is in the hands of the griots, a hereditary caste of singers of these songs, Wassoulou music is the domain of hunters. The songs are part of magical night rituals, the purpose of which is not only to deceive a beast in love, but to use a state of trance to bring hunters to a parallel reality and strengthen their perception.
Bamba Wassoulou Groove has shown that Malian guitars are in direct dialogue with the sun. The band creates a real wall of sound. Hendrix-esque virtuoso solos, trance-like vocals, wicked bass and drum sections, the band is a dance machine that electrifies Malian music and recreates the excitement of the hot nights of Bamako.
